Tanduay Ventures into Restaurant Business

Tanduay Brands International, Inc. (TBII) recently opened its first restaurant venture, TKB by Tanduay, in Ayala Avenue, Makati City. TKB is an acronym of The Kushi Bar (TKB), and will offer Filipino-Japanese fusion recipes paired with rum-infused beverages.

“We Filipinos love to eat and drink, and through TKB, we wanted to elevate the awareness that specific dishes may be best enjoyed with a glass of their favorite spirit or cocktail,” Tanduay president Lucio “Bong” Tan said.

TKB by Tanduay’s main fare consists of kushiage-inspired (kushi) dishes paired with TKB shots, a unique beverage offering that will surely win over food enthusiasts.

tanduayTKB by Tanduay’s operations is overseen by Nightwing, Inc., a restaurant management company. Its president, Rommel Roque, manages business operations hands-on together with wife, TKB General Manager Karen Roque.

“Like Filipinos, the Japanese look at food as a way to celebrate and create stronger bonds among families and friends. That is also what we want to promote through TKB. Kushi dishes also provide the ideal pairing for Tanduay cocktail mixes. Incidentally, khushi means happiness in India, and we want our customers to experience joy when they dine at TKB by Tanduay,” Roque said.

The restaurant’s chefs, meanwhile, include Chec Yuri Amani, who has 15 years of experience as a Corporate Banquet Chef in Japan, and Chef Allan Gatchalian, who has 27 years of experience in Japanese cuisine. They are joined by Justin Marcelo as restaurant manager and Mia Gonzaga as F&B manager, who are also both highly skilled and experienced in their respective roles.

The TKB by Tanduay Dining Experience

tanduayTKB by Tanduay offers a mix of FIlipino and Japanese food cultures. It will offer full service dining from 8 AM to 10PM.  It likewise sells a limited selection of Tanduay premium novelty items.

“As we celebrate our 165th year, we want to offer an experience that goes beyond our iconic rum brand. Tanduay has long valued and continues to value culture, heritage, and family tradition. Through TKB and our other initiatives, we would like to further showcase these to our most loyal customers—our fellow Filipinos,” Tan said.
