FOOD FINDS ASIA | Tanduay Opens First Filipino Bar at the Minnesota Timberwolves’ Target Center | At the Target Center in Minneapolis, Tanduay is the first Filipino rum brand to open a bar.
Tanduay was granted the opportunity to open a bar at the Target Center in Minneapolis as part of its collaboration with the NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves. The Tanduay City View Lounge is the first bar owned and operated by a Filipino rum company, Tanduay Distillers.
Many Timberwolves fans are excited about the new Tanduay bar. Activation Manager for the Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx, David Manley, says, “The location allows fans on the 200th level the option to drink their favorite Tanduay cocktail while watching a game.”
He went on to say that Timberwolves fans enjoy the tropical flavors of Tanduay-inspired cocktails. Tanduay New Fashion (Tanduay Gold Rum with cherry and bitters) and Tanduay Tropic Tease are two examples of this type of drink” (Tanduay Silver Rum with a splash of pineapple and cranberry juice).
Silver and Gold rums from Tanduay have welcomed additions to Timberwolves games. According to Manley, “Fans are anxious to test them.”
It’s open to fans beginning at the time the gates open and lasting through the third quarter.
The Timberwolves and Tanduay collaborated earlier this year to offer Tanduay rum bottles in Minnesota with branded packaging. Also at Target Center, the storied Philippine rum company’s LED courtside rotation and basket pad signage, as well as pole pads and arena signage, are all visible on television.
International expansion is Tanduay’s goal through its relationship with NBA clubs such as the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Los Angeles Lakers. It has partnered with five of the league’s teams thus far.
The rum brand has entered various states in the United States, including Arizona, California, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Tennessee, Wisconsin, and Guam. China, Singapore, UAE, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, and Germany are some of the other countries where Tanduay products may be purchased.
Tanduay is a world-renowned rum brand that has received numerous accolades over the years. At the recent World Branding Awards at Kensington Palace, it was selected Brand of the Year 2021-2022. When it came to Alcoholic Beverages – Rum, Tanduay was the solitary winner.
