I’m a big fan of Bagnet ever since I got the chance to try it in one of the many food restaurants along BF Parañaque and when I got an invite to try another authentic Bagnet from Stoops, I didn’t hesitate and gave it a go.

Stoops Bagnet Ilocos started as a fast food restaurant in Malate, Manila last March 2008. Due to the overwhelming response of its customers, their second branch opened last 2010 at Makati and another came in 2012 at Legarda. Currently, they have 6 running branches serving authentic Ilocano cuisine and one of which that I tried was in BF Homes, Parañaque. But why Stoops? I’ve been wondering where the owner got its unique name that made it stand out from the rest. Stoops actually got its name from a funny moniker that the owners use to call each other as “buddy”. The business is owned by group of friends working for an airline company who used to go to Ilocos for vacation and got the idea to start their own food business.

Stoops offers different Bagnet style cuisine. When I tried their Bagnet Meal (Php105 – regular, Php110 – spicy), my heart melt with joy. The serving is actually good for 2 people if you’re not much of an eater like me. What I like about it is how their Bagnet was kept crispy even after 20 minutes of serving.

They also offer Chicken Bagnet (Php115 – regular, Php120 – spicy) and Boneless Bangus (Php120). There are 3 side dishes to choose from to neutralize the taste: KBL (Kamatis, Bagoong, Lasuna), KKB (Kamatis, Talbos ng Kamote, Bagoong) and TBA (Talong, Bagoong, Alamang).

If you’re an Ilocano food fan but not much into Bagnet, this restaurant won’t fail your cravings. They also offer Adobo Ilokano (Php80), Igado (Php80), Dinuguan (Php80), Sinanglaw (Php65), Pakbet (Php45), Dinengdeng (Php45) and Longa Meal (2pc – Php85, 3pc – Php115).

Stoops is indeed “makamasa” for its tasty and budget friendly food choices. In less that Php5600, you can bring your date along and enjoy real Ilocano food. One of their new must try includes Pancit Plin (Php55) and Pancit with Bagnet (Php75). I find the Pancit plain tastier but Pancit with Bagnet gave a crunchy taste that made me crave for one more bite.
