Celebrity Chefs nationwide are organizing themselves for a tribute dinner for the families of the 44 fallen heroes of the PNP’s Special Action Force unit who died at the siege in Mamasapano, Maguindanao last Sunday.
The tribute dinner, dubbed as “Chefs for Fallen 44,” is spearheaded by celebrity chef Myke “Tatung” Sarthou. He made a call on his Facebook account early this morning for his colleagues in the dining industry to join hands in solidarity with today’s National Day of Mourning.
A Facebook Group has been opened to coordinate efforts. The hashtag #chefsforfallen44 has also been created to spread the word on Twitter and Instagram (@chefs4fallen44) and across various social media outlets.
According to Chef Tatung, The event will feature a simple dinner of monggo soup, fish, chicken adobo and a banana. It will start with an prayer and dinner will be eaten in silence. No frills amd no speeches. The event will culminate with performances by local artists. Proceeds will be collected to set up a trust and scholarship fund for the families of the fallen 44.
