Christmas is the time of giving. But for Filipinos, it is also the time for family reunions and sumptuous family meals. Here are some Christmas dish ideas that you can try:
Kids and kids at heart can resist this dish. But because of its Christmas, make it extra special by making it more creamy and delicious.
500 gms spaghetti noodles
4 tbsp. cooking oil
4 cloves garlic, minced
2 pcs onions, chopped
¼ kilo ground pork
1 pc red bell pepper, seeded and chopped
1 pc carrot, chopped
Salt and pepper
1 ½ cup water
6 pcs regular sized hotdogs, sliced
500 ml spaghetti sauce
¼ cup mayonnaise
Cook the spaghetti noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
In a pan, heat cooking oil. Sauté garlic, onion and ground pork. Cook for 5-10 minutes over medium heat.
Adjust to low heat; add red bell peppers, carrots, and bay leaf. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
Pour in water, and let it boil. Cover and simmer for 20 15 minutes until the water is almost dry.
Add the hot dogs, and spaghetti sauce. Bring to a boil, sprinkle with seasonings according to preference. Cook over low heat for another 7 minutes.
Pour in mayonnaise. Mix well until a creamy consistency is achieved.
Mix sauce and pasta, top with grated cheese.
HONEY GLAZED HAM:
This Christmas this is also known as the “Star of Noche Buena”. Add sweetness to your ordinary ham with this recipe.
¼ cup dark corn syrup
¼ cup whole cloves
2 cups of honey
¾ cup butter
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
Score ham and stud with whole cloves. Lay ham in foil lined the pan.
On top of a double broiler, heat the corn syrup, honey, and butter. Keep the glaze warm while baking the ham.
Brush the glaze over the ham, and bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes in the oven. Brush ham with glaze every 10 to 15 minutes.
On the last 5 minutes of baking, turn on the broiler to caramelize the glaze. Remove from oven and let cool before serving.

12 pcs. Tiger prawns, trimmed
Salt and pepper
3 pcs. Cloves garlic, chopped
1 pc onion chopped
2 tbsp oil
½ cup button mushrooms, chopped
1 cup mayonnaise
½ cup quick melt cheese
½ cup breadcrumbs
1 pc lemon, wedged
Put prawns on a chopping board. Remove the meat, while keeping head and tail intact. Chop the meat and season with salt and pepper, set aside.
Place shells in boiling water until cooked and drain the liquid.
Heat oil in a pan, sauté garlic and onion. Add mushrooms and prawns. Sauté until cooked.
Mix with mayonnaise. Put fillings inside the prawn shells.
Top with cheese and breadcrumbs then bake until cheese melts.
